Kay Hendon is experienced in the areas of child care, child welfare, and neighborhood services. Her priority issues are capacity and quality of infant toddler care in centers and home-based care.
In her prior role at The Nicholson Foundation, Kay led initiatives focused on early care and education, including championing high quality programs for vulnerable infants and toddlers and developing the Foundation’s partnership with the State in improving the quality of home-based child care. During her 9-year tenure, she was the recipient of the Turrell Champion Award.
Kay has held leadership positions in both the nonprofit and public sectors and has spearheaded public policy initiatives. Her prior roles include serving as the Associate Commissioner for Child Care Operations for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services; the Director of the Office of Child Care at the NYC Human Resources Administration; and the Child Care Administrator for the State of Wisconsin.
